Color me shocked. Up there with one of the more surprising bottles of the year (alongside an old Carlisle Cardiac Syrah). Had very little hope, but was completely and pleasantly surprised.

Cork split in two coming out. Trusty Durand saved the day. First small pour was not encouraging…lots of funk. After leaving alone for 30mins, the faded ruby with tinge of black in the glass had aromatics of sous bois, black tea, and dirty red and black berries. On the palate, this was elegant showing more herbal/earthy notes, dark berry fruit in the background, sweet pipe tobacco and a still-tart finish with both acidity and tannin. I have to admit that if someone said this was older burgundy, I could see it in the realm of possibilities. No sappy, rich, cola type notes here. Open and enjoy! — 10 days ago

I like Pinot Noir but I would not ever rate an Oregon Pinot Noir above a 9.1. This is just so good. Very nice berry notes, including blueberry. Great finish and actually has a tiny bit of tannin to cleanse the pallet. This one needs to be in your go to “friends are over for dinner”, stash. — 3 years ago

What a beauty and only $50. An elegant and restrained Pinot Noir that is a paradigm of Pommard. Cherry flavor but not too much, Soft and clean long finish. Nice nose but subtle. — a month ago

My fave village in Burgundy, and this didn’t suck. Quintessential burg with that signature French oak nose. Hints of cola and nutmeg on the mid palate. Very modern presentation with cherry jam and medium acids. Let this rest for a while. — 3 years ago

Yamhill Cuvée is named for the county where the Domaine Serene Estates are located. Aged for 14 mos in French oak (43% new), this blend has grapes from Dundee Hills, Eola-Amity Hills, & Yamhill-Carlton AVA's. Ruby, rich fruit aromas of red berries and floral spices, known as “little sister” of the Evenstad Reserve. The palate shows cherry and strawberry with cacso, oak & cola. Loved this for its bright, shimmering presentation and accessibility. So well balanced with notes of Asian spice, cedar and a hint of cola. Good acid and tannin structure suggest another wine which is destined to further improve with time. — 3 years ago
