This is a very unique white wine from Ribera Del Duero in Spain. Drinking very fresh and young as a 6 year old.

A good quality wine that will be nice to revisit it in a couple of years, and see how it evolves.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food.

Albillo Mayor grapes from old vines.

An interesting one.
Smells to me like Cab Franc.
Dark and inky. A lot of unripe fruit, pheonolic bitterness, high acid AND tannins. A real pucker up special.
I get the sense that it's heavily extracted but somehow it retains a kind of lightness and in some way a weird balance works out here. My it sure it would ever be a go-to wine, IDK maybe paired with a fatty fatty pig on a spit it might be just the ticket! — 9 months ago

Lovely nose of herbs and violets. Dark cherry fruit flavors with hints of tobacco and leather. Beautiful soft tannins and velvety texture. This wine has aged pretty well, but it is past its peak. Thank You Ron B! — 5 years ago

Picarana is the “village” white, made with Albillo Real or Albillo de Madrid (completely different from Albillo Mayor found in Ribera del Duero) from different sites around San Martín de Valdeiglesias. White fruit, floral notes. Round, quite ripe, moderate acidity. — 2 years ago

OK, 5 1/2 years since my last checkin of this SUPER intense Napa Cab made for our dearly-departed friend, former mayor of St. Helena, which was but one of his MANY accomplishments.

SUPER intense, ripe Napa Cabernet, this was what Del Britton loved to drink, and so he had access to some great Napa Cab fruit and had it made to his liking. He SNUCK a case of this into my cellar at a wine group party, I didn’t know I had it until 1-2 weeks later. I miss Del very much, his generosity, wit and kindness were and are still stuff of which legends are made. Thanks Del for the great memories!!
