First Charta Riesling I have tried (and still the only one I have ever come across). Complex aromatics of white flowers, crushed stone, and red apple. Barely off dry with adequate acidity - this is designed as the perfect food wine. Very good at $19 (on sale).
11.5% abv - 9.8 g/l RS - 6.9 g/l acidity

Graphite and raisin, fig and marinated porcini, smoky dried cherries, black pepper on grilled beef fat, toasted sesame, dried black and red currants, all within an aura of damson and violet and honeyed rose petal. Palate leaps with damson and dried and fresh bing cherry, dried spiced plum, cedar and dried lavender, black olive, moist tobacco, and perfectly toned tannins which come off as a separate, undefinable taste of fruit skin extraction with stunning depth; tea leaves meet dried blackberry in a redwood stand. Soft date and creamy fig follow to a tart raspberry end.

Off the charts Cab Franc. When two great wine shops meet and share gems! Doesn’t get much better than this. Classic Chinon with age! — 3 years ago
Very nice, medium bodied, smooth wine with traces of plum. Nice with bbq'd chicken or meet. — 2 years ago
Our princess turned 10, time for our yearly 2011. This year the Sassicaia. Positive evolution compared to 3 years ago and a lot better on day 2. Nevertheless this wine still did not meet the expectations. Quite high in acidity and fruit not in balance making it “difficult”. I give comparable wines at a third of this price higher ratings, I guess that says enough — 3 years ago

Same notes from my Feb ‘23 review below. Just exceptional California Chardonnay. I have one left from this vintage that I’ll hold for a little while longer but I can’t imagine this getting better than it’s drinking now. I’ve had more recent vintages of this wine and they came in mid 14abv and while good, they’re different, this is 13%. Still down to meet you at Hirsch @Turd Fergusson — 2 months ago
