Core of red with light brickish edges.

Nose is pretty. Dryish cherries to cherries, strawberries, blackberries flow underneath, raspberries, some fresh rhubarb, notes of cherry Jolly Rancher, red to mid berry cola, some soapy baking powder notes, tobacco, used leather, (might be the glass), soft, mid intensity baking spices, vanilla-in, soft oak shavings, moist clay, limestone, dry top soils, red flowers, red roses & candied violets.

The palate is ripe, juicy; sweet & tart cherries, strawberries, some black berries, dry pomegranate, somewhat stewed/spiced plum, blackberries with circling raspberries, nice mid spice, dry tobacco, leather, grilled meats, soft, mid intensity baking spices, vanilla-in, soft,dry, oak shavings, moist clay, limestone, volcanics, hints of white pepper, dry leaves, dry top soils, red flowers, red roses & candied violets, excellent acidy with a well made, balanced, biggish structure & tension, good length finish that lasts minutes and fall on spice & minerals.

Great Thanksgiving wine! Dried cherries, rose petal, gum Arabic, cedar-Saigon cinnamon-oak, elderberry, currant, nutmeg, blueberries. Black pepper on entry softens to black and red cherry with lavender and violet. A touch of cherrywood a smaller touch of applewood, a minute touch of hickory and a nano shaving of mesquite. Laden with inlay. Sour blackberry finish speckled with lingonberries and myrrh.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2017 Rio Sordo pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears and loads of chunky sediment towards the bottom. On the nose, the wine is developing with solar notes of Morello cherry, pomegranate, tar, roses, dried green herbs, old wood and dry gravelly earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. These 2017 Riserva’s are already showing really well…sneaky good. Medium viscosity; dark, glass-painter. Warm cherries in black and deep red with brownie and tiramisu notes. Nano star anise, black pepper, and tea. These on the nose. Sublime mouthfeel showcases the blackberry, black currant, boysenberry, coffe and sweet tobacco notes that rotate into a persistent resonance.

Hint of gunpowder melts to reveal a pudding-soft, dried lychee which peels away to white roses, citrus pith and avocado cloud glistening with flintlock shavings in ginkgo shade. Extraordinary palate leans hard into a soft wall of olive, evaporating lemon oils, cottonseed oil, and lime nodules. Tangerine-pear impossibilities flower, riveting the tongue with pithy, zesty, and blossoming evocations. Ginger, tea and nano bits of Wrigley’s original juicy fruit.

Really a wonderful barbaresco riserva. Should have bought more than one bottle. Lots of sediment, so a decant is in order. Wonderfully deep nose, so velvety on the palate. Nice long finish. Just enough refreshing acid too - could have used a smidge more but still very nice. Great pairing with Allen brothers duroc pork chops. — 3 years ago

Gooseberry, clove and grapefruit nose with lemon peel and nano peach slivers. Pear and pineapple afterthoughts. Pithy entry of undulating weight, lemon lime and grapefruit, a chalkiness ensues, briny and a touch of angelica.
