Newman's Own

Duckhorn Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Oaky, rich, full bodied, a bit too much on its own, better if paired with a fatty steak. — 6 days ago

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

Échézeaux Pinot Noir 2005

2005 vintage. Great fill and cork. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Small amount of chunky and powdery sed. Nose a bit musty but never funky during a high decant. Medium-heavy body. Tremendous power throughout. Can easily go another two decades. Still packing the signs of youth such as individual flavors easily evident vs melded/integrated ones. Tasted more like a 2020 vintage. Was hoping for more black tea, espresso, orange citrus peel, soy sauce notes (and there were some). This one's gonna need a bigger boat...er...another 7-8 years or a 5 hour decant to shed some of that overt power in a trade off for nuance. Delicious in its own way but not easy. Demanding. 04.04.25. — 14 hours ago

Delicious. Smooth red that would pair with almost anything or perfect to drink on its own. — a year ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2018

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. It’s been almost a year since my last visit with the 2018 vintage and it’s in a very pretty spot right now. All notes previously apply though I should point out that the florals are especially showy right now. The nose is simply beautiful to experience. The fruit remains fresh and mostly red fruited. The structure is still firm. Very, very easy to enjoy on its own or with a meal. Drink now through 2038+. — 2 days ago

Better on its own and still needs lots of time. Hold another 5-8 years and beyond. — 3 months ago

1hr+ decant. Dark red color with subtle purple rims. Super complex nose and wine, so not even going to try and describe. Has a little bit of everything all summed up by awesome! Distinct on its own. — 9 months ago

Soft and fruity with balanced tannins. Maybe softer than preferred to pair with pizza, but quite good anyway on its own — 6 days ago

Wirz Vineyard Riesling 2019

This is a wonderfully complex and layered Riesling with effervescent acidity, florals, white fruit and minerality. Lemon peel, pear, slate, and honeysuckle are on the nose and palate, each with its own distinct but harmonized role. If only there was more to be had! — a month ago

Jefferson's Own Vin Rouge Red Blend

Interesting, more spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg than fruit. We first tasted it at Jefferson vineyard at Monticello on my 66th birthday trip. — 6 months ago

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron

Baron de Pichon-Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

This was special. Just a 375mL opened late for a US Open Men’s semi. From the jump the bouquet grabbed me. Lots going on. Earth menthol aged nicely. This is a mature wine but not dusty. It’s packing it’s own punches and was a wonderfully unique ride. Lots of small sips and tastes because it’s one to savor but also so much going on - it seemed more appropriate. The fruit on the back end is memorable and layered. — 3 years ago
