Casa Ferreirinha (Sogrape Vinhos)

Quinta da Leda Douro Red Blend 2018

Could use some more time aging. Nevertheless, excellent wine. The only good thing coming from Portugal right now because the play on the field has been atrocious. — 4 months ago

#AgedWineTuesday

Ruby in color and cloudy, with a wide reddish/ brick rim.

Sweet nose with cedar, vanilla, honey and chocolates.

Sweet on the palate with black fruits, tobacco, cereal, vanilla, licorice, light wood, chocolates, coffee, light cola and peppercorn.

Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries.

This 29 year old is still drinking beautifully. Nicely balanced and elegant. Rich and fruit forward.

I don't see it getting any better from this point on. Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Delicious right out of the bottle, and a gorgeous dessert wine.

93 points.

$100.

Aves Verduno Barbera d'Alba 2020

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Better on Day 2. The 2020 “Aves” pours a deep ruby color with a touch of violet and a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of black berries, dark plums, purple flowers, licorice, myrrh and mineral-rich earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This hides the posted 15% ABV very well. A lovely pairing with sausage and peppers. Drink now and over the next 7-10 years. — 5 months ago
