Aroha Te Muna Pinot Noir 2014

An excellent Martinborough Pinot Noir. Rich and luscious like an Otago Pinot but not as overt as Otago usually is. Red and Black cherry with restrained whole bunch influence. Balanced French oak. Craggy Range is based in Hawkes Bay (the winery is a great spot for lunch!) but they were smart enough to establish their Te Muna vineyard in Martinborough - a much better terroir for Pinot Noir. Bob Campbell MW nailed the brief by saying it “delivers power with consummate subtlety. “ A point or two off for a ridiculously heavy bottle. — a day ago

Te Kahu Gimblett Gravels Vineyard Merlot Blend

Cattail creek wine dinner. Characteristics of pencil lead, tobacco, black cherry, and liquorish. The palate has a lifted acidity and spicy tannins but don't obscure the fruit expression. Paired with petite ribeye en persillade. — 4 months ago

Estate Vineyards Gamay Noir 2023

Incredibly light, almost see-through clear, went perfectly with the slow roasted leg of lamb. We had along with its black garlic and mushroom sauce. Perfect example of drink wine, and eat food from the same location they came from. — a month ago

'M' Riesling 2021

Rieslings from around the world tasting. My first Riesling from new zeland was incredible. This was the cheapest of the tasting but voted the best. I normally hate strong petroleum notes but it was integrated with the fruit and other flavors so well. Old vines, organic, and biodynamic vineyard. — a month ago
