Opened and decanted 2.5 hours in advance of our inaugural Aglianco Osso Buco wine dinner here at the Gotham
Facing off against a range of Aglianco from Unti in Sonoma Leonetti in WA and Galardi 2010 in Campania
The 2007 Galardi came across with olives, gaminess and herbs in the nose but once tasted showed a certain finesse and smoothness that was great. This was right up there as the savory wine of the night. — 16 days ago
One of America’s best, in winemaker Maggie Harrison. Great to find this on a list with a bit of age. There’s such a beguiling combination of savory earth, mineral and rich cherry fruit flavors, with killer concentration, a plush texture and serious length. Top notch Domestic Pinot for sure. — 19 days ago
High acidity and quite a lot of tannins, but well rounded. Black and blueberries with herbal notes. Excellent with food, quite good by itself. Needs to breathe a little. — 17 days ago
Spicy and interesting Mallorcan wine with a ton of local character. Callet really has some wild flavors, big fan. — 2 months ago
Really loved this Barossa Shiraz! Reminds me of my early days of exploring the great Aussie Shiraz scene — 4 months ago
Opened and decanted 2.5 hours in advance of our inaugural Aglianco Osso Buco wine dinner here at the Gotham
Facing off against a range of Aglianco from Unti in Sonoma, Leonetti in WA and Galardi 2007 in Campania
The 2010 Galardi was the most dense and as with the 2007, the fruit was minimal. Instead the flavor profile is herbs, green olives and incredible savory notes. It worked incredibly well with the osso buco and needed the richness to shine. This wine still had a bit of hard edges and could use more bottle age IMO — 16 days ago
Poured into a decanter about three hours prior to dinner. The 2012 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears and no obvious signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with heavy notes of Morello cherry, exotic spices, bergamot, black tea, red flowers, cola nut and stony earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is a remarkable 2012 Riserva that hides its 15% alcohol about as good as any I have encountered. Full of character and full of life. My last bottle, but I hope to encounter this beauty again at some point in the future. Drink now through 2032. — a month ago
