This wine is dark purple/garnet in the glass. The nose offers up considerable black fruit, such as blackberries, plums, and blackcurrant. It also offers up considerable oak effect, even though the wine’s exposure to wood was minimal. The oak comes through heavily on the palate as well, obscuring some nice dark fruit flavors. The artwork on the label is nice, but the artwork inside the bottle can’t live up to it. — 3 days ago
This wine has a medium ruby hue (trending deep in color) with robust and layered aromas and flavors that include strawberry sauce (think fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt), raspberry coulis, tart cherry, rose water, tomato leaf, mint, black licorice, anise, vanilla, and pipe tobacco.
On the palate, it’s dry, with medium (+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol (13%) and medium fine grained, soft tannins.
It’s a delicious and versatile wine. And fun to taste a California expression of Sangiovese outside of its homeland in Italy! — 4 months ago

Medium to light body. Spicy, cherry, light tannins to start. As it opens, spiciness increases and raspberry emerges. — a month ago

Should have let this age. Wine Enthusiast recommended opening in 2026, found the article after I’d already opened the bottle. I let it breathe for over an hour but still just intense booze and smoke aromas. — 8 months ago
