Vega Sicilia started purchasing Toro vineyards in 1997 but didn’t release Pintia until ‘01. 100% Tinta de Toro, thick-skinned clone of Tempranillo, beautiful color, complex aromas of fruit & floral spice. Aged, 18 months, French & American oak, 15% stainless due to very dry year. On the palate pronounced fresh dark berry fruit flavors, smoky oak notes, well balanced with acidity. Complex big tannins, full body, long finish ending with elegant fruit & touch of earthy tones. Nice! Needs time! — 4 hours ago

Deeper ruby , slightly narrower garnet , ruby rim . Quite richly fruited with a meaty , smoky character also , red plum , dark cherry , blackberry , touch of spice . On the palate this has quite good density and grippy tannin , balanced acidity , darker ripe fruits. Reasonable length . Quite polished and modern in style . Needs time , come back in 5 years and will last well at least a further 10 . — a month ago
