Nose has blackberry jam, moist leather, fig paste, charred wood, chopped dark chocolate and faint vanilla.
Palate has dried blueberry, blackberry, dried black currant, muddy garden soil, faint dried strawberry with mild tannins and medium acidity.
Solid pairing to a baked 'Mac & Cheese' dish fancied up with a béchamel sauce, Gorgonzola & Fontina cheeses, breadcrumbs and Casarecce Corte pasta. (Interpretation of a recipe courtesy of Joanne Weir) — 3 years ago
Un beau cadeau de noël.... merci Weir.... — 7 years ago
Young and tight but shows where it might go in a few years! Plenty of pleasure and Mendocino red fruit but no doubt more to show later — 7 years ago
Sipping Fine Wine
Ruby color, purple edges, with aromas of ripe fruits, floral and complex spice, aged for 16 months on French oak, 58% new, vineyard planted in 1991. On the palate concentrated flavors of strawberry and black cherry with orange citrus, herbs, vanilla and oak, soft tannins on well balanced structure. Full body, rich long finish, ending with fruit, vanilla, floral, spice and oaky tones. Very Nice! Will age! — a month ago
