Friday the 13th: Find Good Luck in Great Wine

It’s Friday and it’s the 13th, so you know what that means…If you’re superstitious, do not open any umbrellas inside, avoid walking under ladders, and try your hardest not to shatter any mirrors. If you love all things scary, then maybe you’ll spend your Friday watching the ten thousand films in the Friday the 13th movie franchise. Whether you are superstitious, skeptical, or couldn't care less about Friday the 13th, it's still Friday, and that means you should definitely be drinking wine. We recommend grabbing a bottle from your favorite region and make sure it’s the 2013 vintage. Looking for a goth wine to match the energy for today? Domaine Trapet Père & Fils

Chapelle-Chambertin Pinot Noir 2013

Nice expressive nose with scents of red fruits, raspberries and cranberries in particular. The palate is gorgeous, fresh, elegant, very classy, pure and precise flavors, not the most powerful or dense but showing a nice texture and a decent length (at best) on the finish for the level.

Enderle & Moll

Muschelkalk Pinot Noir 2013

Way too young. Angry 😡. Give it 5 more years. Even after a 3 hour decant tight. Dark cherries 🍒, stone dust, 🌿, lime. Super fresh with high minerality and acidity. On to the 14’ soon. — 3 years ago

Reserve 50 Anniversary To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Dinner Chez Nous is hard to beat (in my humble opinion 😂😂).

Tonight we’re going with a classic: filet mignon and Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s no wonder this pair works so well.

The wine is dry and offers velveteen tannins, high alcohol, medium acidity, and concentrated black fruit to counterbalance.

This wine is deep ruby and offers blackberry, black cherry, plum, also violet, black olive, cedar, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, and tobacco notes.

Cheers to delicious food and wine complements!!

Rocca di Castagnoli

Buriano Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Delicious, minty luxurious mouthfeel.
N:Very minty, some deep tomato, as paste. It has an interesting lightness to it.
P: mulberries and bright red/orange long finish, still has that murky entry, The acids are still bright. Very tactile and grippy.

Drinking with mom and dad for Mother's Day. Darker red, tannic, cherry, garnet color. Nose is tobacco, dark red fruit, maybe even some licorice. Tannic and dry, but brighter and a good structure. Not a heavy wine, it has the full body but is still a young and vibrant wine. Absolutely delicious! $335 at Fiola. — 3 years ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Valmur Chablis Grand Cru Chardonnay 2013

Such an underrated vintage both red and white. Raveneau‘s 2013 Valmur is electric from the first pour wafting killer yellow fruit intensity, white chocolate, white flowers, notions of sea breeze and a little botrytis influenced saffron. The palate is deep, waxy and rich with balanced zippy citrusy acids and a crushed oyster shell minerality that gives way to a considerably long, focused and lifted finish. Fantastic bottle. — 3 years ago

Little Sister Reserve Merlot 2013

World’s End makes nice wines. Always grab it when I see it. Black fruit and firm tannins, good length. Feels like I stole it for $35. — 3 years ago
