Wow. The 2017 Pajé from Roagna may be my wine of the (2023) year. Clear brick, almost tea colored. Chocolate, spice, menthol on the nose. Big mouth feel for a wine that doesn’t look or smell substantial or forward. Minerals, hints of red berry, tobacco, subtle tannins. Better with air. Nuanced, layered. Wonderful. — a year ago
Already a complete nose, tight and stuffed to the brim. Double decanted 5 hours. Definitely needs a couple of years but fireworks in the glass already this evening — a year ago
Boysenberry, cherry, mulberry and violet, tobacco, cedar and wet cinnamon, leather, smoke, and bramble. Rich palate shows black cherry, black currant, tobacco, dark toast, espresso, darkest chocolate, cassis, and graphite. Absolutely perfect now and likely later too!

Simply gorgeous.
A dark purple robe with mild ruby touches. The nose is deep and approachable. Cigar smoke and oak for days. There’s a plethora of dark fruits here with red cherries, blueberries, and the faintest hint of vanilla. Such a treat for the senses.
Steady but exciting. Reliable but thrilling. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo. Quite traditional but it’s just so damn good year in and year out. Nice complexity and sturdy in its youth but perfect for aging. Very reminiscent of a nice Bordeaux. So smooth and refined but welcoming. The red fruit on the palate is pure and accompanied by tobacco, earth, and nutmeg. All in all, I could drink this all day everyday. — a year ago
Stellar. It took a solid hour to blow off the funk. It's ruby red in color with orange blending into the edge. Cranberry, white pepper, potting soil on the nose. Mouthfeel is dry, silky smooth and spherical. Alcohol medium plus but without heat. Acidity is absolutely perfect here at medium. Tannins are already pleasantly dry. This will improve, but it will be tough to keep my hands off my other 2 bottles.

Worried it might be a little natty for my taste at first but the funk blows off quickly to reveal a fragrant & expressive wine—orange peel, orange blossom, fennel pollen, pumpkin and a gorgeous salinity.
It’s a wine that really sings with seafood. Had it with Provençal Cod with olives and fennel.
Her winemaking talent really shines in the texture—particularly the finish. Definitely a lot of skin contact here, but the tannins are elegant and the finish is crisp, salty and refreshing —no graininess or bitterness.
Like Stanley Tucci says to Arianna, “I could bathe in this wine” — a year ago
