My first #grange and unfortunately it did not make me fantasize about tasting more. The structure was faded and the fruit was right behind it. No lift or excitement. #penfolds #southaustralia #australia #syrah #shiraz #ctbucklinwine — 8 years ago

Prominent & slightly cooked black cherries, black plum, cough drop, vanilla extract, coffee bean, sage, cedar and black currant. Solid medium plus body, finish, & viscosity, medium plus alcohol, moderate acidity and balanced tannins. Fair enough at the entry level price point. — 9 years ago
15.5/20 (87/100)

Exquisite Grenache plum and leathery Syrah jump from the glass with a dusty touch of non-Brett barnyard. Black cherry, licorice, burnt rye toast, blackberry, raspberry reduction, and violet aromas. Big blackberry and luxardo cherry opener, with black currant and ripe black plum. Smooth edges all around here, with grape leaf, and a grape or two too. Touches of mint with bitter chocolate expressions make this a dance of equestrian beauty as saddle leather sage and dark cigar coat the finish. Bolero. .

Quite amazing to see 13 year-old budget wine hold on so long; blame the screwcap and absence of cork; pristine kero- style riesling; fatter than its equivalent from Clare; expect a blend of warmer Barossa, Clare and Eden Valley, tad sweet but now called richness; green-gold-yellow; looks old tastes honied; brulee and lime juice; full- bodied riesling from its Barossa roots; venerable like the 80 odd year-old man its named after-Wolfgang. 11.5% AUD 10; #riesling #southaustralia #wolfblass #2003 — 9 years ago

Wow! Full bodied and very drinkable Aussie Shiraz. Includes 5% Mataro. Lots of fruit, pepper, leather and chocolate. Very approachable now but should stay in form for another 5-7 years. Nice bottle for $19.

I'm sad to see to which extent people had contorted the Syrah grape. Completely disfigured, un drinkable, heavy stuff. Probably if you think that wine is something akin of a cocktail, not part of the food that you put on the table, then go ahead. With reviews like this I think I sound like an arrogant prick, but I really dislike this style of wine.

Solid 9.0. #barossa valley #barossavalley blend of #gsm #grenache, #shiraz and #mataro or #garnacha #syrah and #monastrell #mourvedre Deep deep color typically ripe (low latitude=intense sunlight) medium (+) aromas of red and black fruit, hints of ink, chocolate and toast. On the palate...as one would expect, ripe and juicy. Maintains a lovely balance between the ripeness and juicy sweetness of the fruit, the medium acidity and the high alcohol (hardly noticeable) and ripe tannins. Good stuff. Reminds me of my wines from Campo de Borja. #australia #southaustralia — 4 years ago
