Señorío de P. Peciña Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2009

Popped and poured; enjoyed over three days; consistent throughout with very little evolution. The cork basically disintegrated when trying to open. The 2009 Gran Reserva pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core, moving gradually towards a rust colored rim. Medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and desiccated red fruits: Bing cherry, mulberries, spiced plum, cumin, dill, Balsamico, chocolate chip banana bread, toasted coconut, leather, cigar box, dry earth and exotic spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory and super delicious. What a drop dead gorgeous Gran Reserva from Hermanos Pecina. This drinks well from the pop and pour opens up considerably with air so decanting 30min before would be advisable. Enjoy through 2039+. The cork was doing its job as it was only partially saturated, it just came apart in little pieces. I have several remaining bottles and I’ll plan on using an Ah-So or Durand with the next bottle. A stunning, ultra-traditional Rioja Tinto. — 10 months ago

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

2003 vintage. Decently respectable Pauillac nose. Solid color still. Wine open for three hours. Leanest body I've ever had with a P-L and lacking the complexity usually associated with this wine. Tight and not giving up much at the 3 hr mark. Nice but disappointing given the producer/vintage combo. Wish I'd had 6 hrs to wait hand and foot on this...perhaps it would have totally revealed the expected P-L charms by then. — 2 years ago

Rabource Rully 1er Cru Chardonnay 2018

Guessed this as a 2018 white burg. A successful blind by all accounts! Ripe, lush Chardy fruit (even a touch of pineapples) and excellent quality oak, all wrapped in a lively, saline package. Deceptively light at the start, but air does bring out quite a bit of texture and power. For me, certainly a wine of its soil (white clay on limestone) and vintage, once revealed. Delicious, although I did find it a tad heavy at the end of the night. — a year ago

@Estiatorio Milos in Miami enjoying this lovely Sancerre with our Dover Sole and Branzino. This has got to be the lightest, feathery Sancerre we’ve ever had. Sancerre is my favorite for many reasons. Oh my! Where do you begin?
N: Go down to the pier and get yourself a bag of salted, buttered, nuts. Saline butterscotch, with mold(good)around the edges.Oranges and flowers, Almonds.
P: Saline, Iodine, brown butter, viscous on the tongue with a long sharp acidic, citrus finish. Marvelous. There’s tobacco and wood when you hold it in your mouth and take in air.
Double fortified to 17°, winter, heavy flor.
