Cà dei Frati

I Frati Lugana Turbiana 2022

I really liked it, enjoyed the kiwi and Stone fruit notes. Also the heavier weight. Kyle said it was too tangy for him. 😕 — 5 months ago

Domaine des Carteresses

Tavel Rosé Blend 2019

Tavel region produces my favourite rose wines. The depth and complexity for me is just amazing. Raspberries, strawberries, cranberry, kiwi and watermelon. Very smooth and balanced. Perfect for a hot day alone or with food. — 5 years ago

Ata Rangi

Martinborough Pinot Noir 2014

Nose of ripe red fruits plus black plum. Obvious whole bunch influence. Fruit influence has diminished a little since previous tasting but there was some fruit sweetness when tasting at the end of the.palate and the bottle. Kiwi expert Bob Campbell MW was very impressed and said “the best Ata Rangi I’ve tasted “ when he tasted it in June 2016. — 2 years ago

Enderle & Moll

Muschelkalk Pinot Noir 2013

Way too young. Angry 😡. Give it 5 more years. Even after a 3 hour decant tight. Dark cherries 🍒, stone dust, 🌿, lime. Super fresh with high minerality and acidity. On to the 14’ soon. — 4 years ago

David Arthur

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2018

9.0

They greet you with their Chardonnay when you visit. They buy grapes from Trefethen to make their Chardonnay.

My experience with this is when you are mosttly a red wine producer, you need a white to start people & for Winery dinners with non meat dishes. It is not the primary focus of what they do. It’s more of an after thought and what you get is something very serviceable. That is the case here.

Their Chardonnay is very classic Sonoma...good but, nothing outstanding. Green apple, lemon, lime, kiwi, some butter & cream, mid oaked & backboned.with decent acidity and nicely polished.

How were the “covid protocol” tastings @David T ? I’m headed to a couple of places on Friday after thanksgiving. Haven’t been up since the pandemic started.

@Eric S iIt is handled really well. Everything is well sanitized. Felt completely safe. Nearly all our tastings were outdoor. Beginning Tuesday, I think they start their red protocols. That means, everything will be outside. Enjoy your trip.
