Nice loooong finish! Citrus, white florals, and apricot. Yum. Picked up on our 5th wedding anniversary trip to Russian river valley ❤️ — 2 months ago
From 100% Wente clones that get max hang time, large and tiny berries packed together, pale lemon with subtle aromas of citrus and stone fruits. On the palate flavors of apple, lemon and lime flavors, crisp acidity, long finish ending with rich mineral character. Perfect now! — 2 months ago
Beautiful layered aromatics after decanting - medium body with minimal tannins, but long and elegant with notes of dark berries - 2019 vintage

Not the greatest vintage but still an amazing wine — a month ago
Quite nice with Pat’s meatloaf ($25). Rich inky Cabernet Sauvignon. — 3 months ago
Oaky and exactly what I wanted. Some creaminess and a tad hot but overall good. — 4 months ago

If this isn’t the first commercially released vintage for Whitehall Lane, it’s gotta be close to it. With the help of Durand, I was able to extract the cork intact and decanted about an hour prior to service. The 1981 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with some sediment. On the nose, the wine is surprisingly developing (still!) with a mix of ripe and desiccated fruit with brambles, tobacco, green bell peppers, leather, cocoa, earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry and the structure is still firm but well integrated. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and a touch savory. What a lovely, surprising bottle! Well-stored examples can be enjoyed now and over the next 5-7 years. — a month ago
