The 2020 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte is redolent of iron, game, incense, scorched earth, blood orange, dark fruit and tobacco. A potent, strapping Barolo, the 2020 is certainly not for the timid. It offers tons of Monforte power, brawn and muscle. A few years in the cellar is an absolute must. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2024)

Fun, funky and natty! Candied ginger, fermented bamboo shoot, kumquats. — 21 days ago
Medium rubi colour, like a pinot noir. Very reticent nose of crushed flowers ans dar cherries. Tannic and reticent in the mouth, long and elegant, you decant first or give it another 4 to 5 years in bottle. Great barolo done in classical fashion. — 3 months ago

2019 vintage. Last tasted 4.3.24 (9.3) and 10.18.23 (9.3). PNP. Light medium-medium body. In a great spot already with some of the overtly, machismo dryness in previous visits now double-live gonzo. Big camphor/eucalyptus, cola nut, tree bark, semi-ripe cherry, rhubarb. Tannins not far from the proceedings. Maybe, just maybe, gets to 9.4 status in a few years. Seems to have enuff stuff(ing) to handle a 10-15 years hibernation period should you so desire. 03.16.25. — a month ago
This was a purchase from last bottle so I figured I would give it a try. Darker color than expected. Nice taste longer than I like taste. But overall very good. Look forward to purchasing more Barolo from this vineyard. — 3 months ago
The 2020 Barolo del Comune di Monforte d’Alba is a very serious wine. Deeply pitched notes of balsamic, menthol, licorice, spice, chocolate and blackberry soar out of the glass. A wine of depth and textural drive, the 2020 captures tons of Monforte character. Soft tannins (for a young Barolo) make the 2020 surprisingly—I should say shockingly—accessible. What a wine!
