Advanced brownish color, not especially pretty. Nose has chestnut, wet leaves, roasted cherry skin, wild mint, and that ripe 2015 vulgarity creeping in. Palate is better: juicy, fresh, silky, with good concentration and length. A little heat at 14.5%, but nothing veal ragù couldn’t calm down. Good wine, but very much has 2015-itis, mascara running down its cheek. — 6 months ago

As it opens some lovely herbal notes.

Palate is clean. Tight. Closed.
As it opens tight cherry. Gorgeous.

Much better on day 2. delicious licorice. Fresh cherry fruit. Nose is blasting. Hand crushed mid season cherries. Spice. Roses. Some chocolate on the finish.

Either wait 5 years or decant 5 hours.

Ok. I loved this. But many at the table complained of the excessive alcohol-y aroma. At 15% I guess that’s fair.  I still loved it. I found it to be full bodied, balanced, complex. Lots of aromas and flavors of roasted tomatoes, black pepper, plum, smoke. Pretty strong tannins.  — 9 days ago

Raisiny and grape-y nose offers tart and powdered candy notes, white mushroom, schist, light pepper and tea. Dry open of grape-y tartness, bing cherry and lavender petal. Mouth-coating with cranberry-blackberry and black currant, bitters and dates. Great priced ripasso.

Ruby coloration with some transparency. On the nose, cherry, balsamic, vanilla, leather, crushed rock and earth. On the palate, medium to full body, cherry, currants, anise, espresso bean, leather, balsamic, vanilla and chocolate; a nicely layered palate with a medium to long finish.
