Quintessential Beaune. Quite young, but already showing some soft edges. Cherry notes combine with cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg. This is not for the long haul, but is presenting well right now. Finishes dry, so in my mind, this requires food - Nougatine at Jean Georges. — 5 years ago

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!
Pretty color of dark ruby with a brick rim.
Beautiful nose of blueberries, plums, cooked cherries, dried fruits, forest floor, earth, cedar, cherry liquor, chocolates, tobacco leaf and herbs.
Full-bodied, soft and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper, coffee and light black tea.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This Merlot based blend from Saint Emilion is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward and complex. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.
This 11 year old Merlot feels much older, and drinks like a 20 year old wine. Drinking at its peak now.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. A delicious Right Bank Bordeaux.
I've had a few vintages of this Merlot, and this vintage is absolutely fantastic.
Feels much older on the nose than the palate. A very interesting Merlot, and a great sipping wine.
A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 16 months in (50% new) French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
94 points.
