Brut Rosé Champagne 2004

2004 vintage. This was a highlight reel. Acidity, dirty, pretty, fabulous mousse, delicate, concentrated, fruit, long finish. It had it all at some point in the tasting experience. Looks to go long in this state…at least another 7-8 years (till 2033) without any noticeable dropoff. Can’t remember the last time I had a better rosé brut. Magical. 03.01.25. — 2 days ago

Leeuwin Estate

Art Series Margaret River Chardonnay 2020

Elegant and still a little closed - it needed an hour to reveal its considerable depth of lemon, apple, flint, wet stone, friend lemon zest, candle wax. It’s just beginning to show hints of honey and hazelnut. Brilliant fresh acidity and long finish — 4 days ago

In double-blind tastings, I commonly call these as high quality white Burgundy, typically Chassagne-Montrachet. So good.

Jacques Selosse

Initial Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Disgorged August 2018. Initial with a little age is just incredible and really allows it to reach its full potential. 2018 disgorgement is showing fabulously, totally in the zone with distinctive Selossien aromatics, a rich, powerful and textural palate with racy acids and a chalky mineral core. There’s both freshness and integrated oxidative complexity yielding a complete, balanced and seamless Champagne. Nothing like Selosse 💛 — a month ago

At first underwhelming, started to gain after 30 minutes and was a fine bottle. Never became amazing. Drink up. — 19 hours ago

Chateau Montelena

Napa Valley Chardonnay 2022

Quite light straw , green hints . On the nose this is quite restrained , some apricot , pineapple , white flower notes. On the palate again restrained , lemon peel , touch of apricot , pineapple, hint of toastiness . High acidity and really good balance , nice lemon peel tinged finish . This will probably age well , now and over the next 7-10 years — 9 days ago

Salon

'S' Blanc de Blancs Le Mesnil Brut Chardonnay 2007

When Salon has some age that’s when it shows how special it is. It gains most notably in texture, aromatic complexity and really becomes singular in its expression of Mesnil Chardonnay. 2007 is in a beautiful spot, stunningly pure with incredible fruit and mineral definition and a finish that just stays with you. Special wines… — 25 days ago

Domaine François Raveneau

Montée de Tonnerre Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2010

The 2010 Montée de Tonnerre pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, this is an absolute powerhouse; sizzling with energy, tropical and orchard fruit: passionfruit, tangerine, green apple, crushed seashell, lemon curd and chalky minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and full of minerals. A supercharger of a Chablis. Tonight, this was truly sensational and an experience I won’t soon forget. Drink now through 2040. — 8 days ago
