2015 vintage. A joint venture between the Roquette (Quinta do Crasto) and Cazes (Lynch Bages) families. Only produced from the best barrels in exceptional years. Old vines of Touriga Nacional, Tina Roriz and Touriga Franca from the Douro Superior and Cima Corgo sub-regions. Black fruit and violets. Has that home made wine must taste off the first sip, opening up to some of the classier twigs and branches. Jolly rancher orange acidity and salinity in the after linger.

A nose of a dusty Kit royale.

The same cassis carries on in the first sips of this heavy handed wine, some sharper bits of jolly rancher blackberry, hint of pomegranate seed. High acidity, chompy tannins at the very end.

Wow. Now my favorite Barbera. Surprisingly elegant for Barbera. Smooth and complex finish with licorice and leather, starting with cranberry and raspberry. An expensive but worthwhile purchase. This wine was still fresh and could age even longer. — 5 years ago

In the glass this wine is deep dark burgundy with slightly orange-tinged halo. It smells masculine and earthy with hints of pepper, cedar, blueberries and anise seed. The wine goes down easy even with the noticeable presence of rich tannins. The balance is nice, keeping it interesting as the finish lingers. I taste oak-y dark cherries with an aftertaste of black licorice. I think this is some good medicine. I need another dose. — 6 years ago
