The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru certainly has one of the more attractive bouquets with redcurrant and cranberry, a touch of tobacco and marine aromas (cockle sheds I used to play on in the Thames Estuary). The palate is well balanced, with a touch of curry leaf on the entry and more black than red fruit. The 2014 has a firm grip with a noticeable backbone, yet the finish has plenty of freshness. This is much more backward and has a tannic edge to it, dark fruits, good length, I suspect that this will always show that tannic edge, big and richer than the Traboules, but I prefer the refined aromatics and balance of the Traboules tonight. — 2 months ago

The fruit on this thing is ridiculous. So vibrant and pure. Dark cherry and zingy purple berries (David Crosby!). Crushed granite lurking in the background. So mouthfillingly fruity on the palate. But it’s got really electric, integrated acids. None of the slight disjointedness or astringent/bitter notes I’ve had in other ‘22s. Not super complex but I’m here for the fruit on this one! — a month ago
