Domaine Saint Louis

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Saint-Joseph Syrah

Depth and concentration, this bottle is an ode to south saint joseph wines, with great balance and complexity. To achieve a better grade I need more finesse, but the vintages is also like that — 20 days ago

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2015

We had this a few days ago and I misplaced my notes. Citrus mineral and intensity I recall. Probably committing infanticide drinking this now but there were good reasons to. Firstly our son and wife plus our daughter home for Christmas from New York and secondly my retirement after 53 years at McDonald Group. — 11 days ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2012

This is really at an excellent point where fruit and some tertiary notes are combining so good together. — 4 days ago

Château Meyney

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

What a wonderful surprise; this wine was fantastic and seemed like a young wine not 36 years old. The color was red rim to rim no bricking at all and I kept looking at it wondering why considering its age. The nose and taste were both very integrated with lead pencil, a lot of dark fruits and a bit of spice. What also got me was the finish, just went on forever and so very smooth. I’m sure this wine would last a few more years but why wait; drinking so great right now.

I decanted the wine about 6 PM. My wine opener just drilled a hole in the fragile cork so decanted through a tea strainer into my to-go bottle and other then the cork bits there was very little sediment. Started drinking the wine about 9 PM with NYE Dinner at Anthony’s in Haddon Height.

Château Lilian Ladouys

Saint Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Quick double decant. After 15 minutes, it’s already cookin’. Nose shows cassis, clay, a little underbrush, a slight menthol note, a little violet. Lots going on. Rich and a little macho in the mouth, like many ‘18s. There’s a fair whack of soft tannin, but it’s already drinking well. Intense and full. Not elegant, but gives you more than your money’s worth of flavor. Certainly will be better in 5 years or so. — 14 days ago

So, @Tom Casagrande, did you brown bag this AFTER double decanting it and drinking it at the bus stop? I’ve never figured out whether it’s socially acceptable to double decant, then head to the local bus stop with the bottle and drink it naked?? Inquiring minds trying to figure it out??!! 🤷🤷🤷

Silex Pouilly-Fumé Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Pale lemon in color.

Medium in body with medium plus acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing limes, lemons, green apples, light wood, earth, herbs and minerals.

Nice finish with limes and almonds.

This is a very young Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley in France.

I had a few vintages of this wine and it is definitely better with age. Needs 5 years in the bottle to mature properly, but starting to drink nicely now.

This 9 year old Sauvignon Blanc drinks very fresh and young. Elegant and easy drinking.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 45 minutes of airtime.

Good by itself or with food.

13% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

$250.

Heady aromas of dark fruits and graphite. Tannins are developing nicely and soft enough after a 2 hour decent to drink easily. — 11 days ago
