Always some of my absolute favorite wines. 07 Reynard is in the most perfect place, perfumed, layered and searingly intense with dark fruit, campfire smoke, olive tapenade, violets and a liquid rock minerality. 2020 vintage. Premier cru and Monopole vineyard. Medium-heavy body. Some aged/golden flavors already present. Not the cheapest Beaune but this is banging and matches plenty of Meursault, Chassagne or Puligny in strict terms of dollars for the delivery. Can’t say I’m the biggest fan of large Burg houses but they occasionally surprise you. This is one of those said occasions.
