A little thin on top of dry. Drinkable. Not spectacular.
Especially for $26. — 2 months ago
When I’m not drinking a Napa Cab, I reach for a Jordon. Blend of 80% Cab Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot & 2% Malbec, aged 13 months in 100% French oak (35% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit, floral and an array of herb spices. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, vanilla spice, leather and cacao notes. Rich fine tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit and oak. Very Nice! Will age well. Just had this with a fillet mignon, Nice! — 8 months ago
(Two previous 1983 wine reviews never made it on here, so copying from my CT).
Continuing a run of ‘83s over the last 3-6 months, this not only showed quite well, but it was at its best after almost two hours in the bottle. Whereas the ‘83 Pichon was clean and elegant, this was a bit more dense and powerful. Beautifully expressive aromatics of potpourri, espresso, fig and leather with a flavor profile mostly on the red/black fruit side of the spectrum. The mid-palate showed good weight and continued to bulk-up during the evening. Old cherry-tobacco note at the finish. Honestly, this drank like it was more early ‘90s than it was early ‘80s. VERY STRONG. Also rather dry and quite woody. — 4 months ago
Very good but somehow not as great as I remembered. Maybe what we drank before tainted it. Maybe it went a little long in bottle. — 8 months ago
Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Medium+ finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with mineral notes. — 2 months ago
I like it! — 3 months ago
Very berry notes of strawberry, raspberry, and dark cherry. Stone minerality notes with licorice and a tartness. Smooth with a nice finish. — 8 months ago
Light straw color. Aromas of peaches, freshly baked bread, white flowers and tropical fruits. Very pleasant tropical fruit medley on the palate as well along with hints of apple, lemon, brioche and spiced nuts. Interesting salty/mineral note on the finish. Bright and acid driven. Creamy mouthfeel and smooth texture but (according to the winemaker) it does not come from oak aging. (Lees contact). Great value! — 9 months ago
