This is Anita Kuhnel’s “Trés Vieille Vigne” from Les Caves in Moulin à Vent.
Popped and poured, enjoyed over the course of dinner. The 2022 “Les Caves - Trés Vieille Vigne” pours a deep purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe black fruit: blackberries, violets, licorice, minerals and dry rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and mineral laden. A powerful wine showing the structure of Moulin à Vent. I would describe this as leaning towards the Burgundian side of the Beaujolais spectrum and it’s a wonderful example; totally true to its place. Drinking well now and should gain complexity and drink well through 2037. — 23 days ago
Had a different bottling from this producer that we didn’t love several weeks ago but this was quite nice. Definitely a very classic Beaujolais note on the finish. Quite nice with a chill. — a year ago
