So much intensity and complexity on the nose and the palate. Just detonates on the palate with an assortment of Riesling flavors - nectarine, mango, grilled pineapple, mycelial tones, honey, salt, slate, mint, wildflowers - and it just kept changing over the four hours I spent with it. The mid-palate was beautifully lush and silky, but the opulence was ephemeral as the current of electricity running through it asserted itself. The finish is particularly impressive; complex and seemingly eternal. I wish I had bought more than a single case. Hoping my ‘16 Paulinshofberg is as magical. — 2 months ago
Just awesome. Insane spice and mulberry on the nose along with oolong tea and a suave, sleek, stunningly textured palate with silky tannins and unreal clarity of fruit. Just delicious. Unbelievably lush today with gorgeous cranberry fruit and a sweet bitter note that fleshes out with acidity all the way in your lower back gums. Gorgeous texture. Haunting. This is flirting with perfection. Just opened and clearly still not fully unfurled, but already an absolute freak show. The nose is a full scene in nature: peach skin, apricot, tangelo, blood orange, Mosel slate, pine forest, a little blueberry, then with air this wild confectionary layer comes in, like a carnival in the forest. Now there is sea-air minerality too, and the whole aromatic field is getting more complete by the minute. The palate is the real astonishment. It has the texture of great white Burgundy, almost Leflaive-like in its glide and polish, but with no oak, no fat, nothing covering the signal. Just purity. Insane purity. The acidity is architectural, giving the wine line, lift, shape, precision and total command. Juicy, sapid, almost tannic on the finish, unbelievably elegant and harmonious. As it opens, the structure starts to dominate, but everything stays cohesive, integrated, and alive. The finish is a mineral blizzard, endless, fanning out for minutes, and still nowhere near where it will be tomorrow. Steinmetz wines are friendly on opening, then they just keep gaining depth, but this is already profound. One of the great dry Mosel Rieslings I have tasted. — 10 hours ago
Good now with a decant. Better in 3 years. Maybe profound. Can’t tell.
N: grapefruit peel.
P: sweet grapefruit. Mountain stream. Savory ? Salty. Mouth coating.

Transformative. That Mosel balance but with the PG tropicality.
Nose: yellow flowers. Apricot flower. So perfumed. So so pretty.
Palate: perfect. Gossamer. Perfect texture. Apricot extract. Amazing.
A very detailed and elegant PG auslese. They can be quite forward in a tropical way. This is so elegant

Insane concentration for a Mosel wine. Has all the slate minerality, complex white and yellow florals, tropical fruit ie guava pineapple; has the signature Steinmetz searing acidity (in a good way) but with a density similar to a Pflaz GG. Spectacular. This is a top wine. @Lyle Fass — 7 months ago
Thicker than 2021, but just as lifted. A Kabinett of light and air, with enough density to carry you. The acidity was joy itself. The mouthfeel was silk in motion. There's something about the 2023s, they have more breadth, more echo. Like the 21s got stretched sideways in all the right ways.
I didn't take notes. I just sat there. And felt better after a brutal day. Because sometimes, at the end of a brutal day, all you need is a Steinmetz Kabinett to remind you that life still has sweetness. — 10 months ago
Stunning. Confectionary peach and apricot, tiny petrol note, then saline sea-breeze complexity, almost like the greatest swimming pool in the world. Palate is dry, juicy, concentrated, energetic, with terrific tension and outrageous inner-mouth aromas. Fruit is youthening up as it opens. 9.4 to 9.5 overnight. Much more finesse. — a month ago
Amazing Mosel Riesling, probably the best I’ve had! Very aromatic, concentrated and balanced. Long finish. Lemon, floral, great acidity and not cloying like some Mosels can be. Thanks @Lyle Fass — a month ago
Very nice, minerals and lean — 2 months ago
Outrageous. Just crazy. Huge herbals. Huge florals. Tree bark, citrus stem, unreal aromas. Confectionary. Nose is a 9.9. Just incredible. Palate is just killer. Super elegant and deep with a midpalate I can get lost in. Superb fruit soak and unreal purity. Gently concentrated. Pure apple, melon and apricot fruit. Drinking so well now. After 16 hours open this continues to develop amazingly. Unreal confectionary nose. Some classic vulcanized rubber and unreal clarity. This is genius. Smarties nose. Palate is so fine and nimble but it’s got some weight and heft. Juicy and so clean. Icing on a cake texture. Just stunning. — 5 months ago
