Another excellent vintage of this great Cahors. Just a bit of Merlot and Tannat is blended with the Malbec. Deep purple color and firm structure, but the tannins are very balanced. Ripe Blue and Black fruit aromas and flavors with hints of leather, black licorice and tobacco. Drink now or hold. Excellent! — 4 years ago
For the price, I expected a lot more. So did the rest on the table. Probably too young as it did improve with air, but I’ve had youthful (and cheaper) Champagne’s that performed far better than this. Started off with heaps of pears, bruised apples, and almonds on the nose. The palate was concentrated, juicy and almost too fruity for me (apples and apricot for days!). Air brought about more cut and chalkiness, as well as some floral notes. In short, I expected more depth. I suspect I’m just not a fan of the vintage. Time will tell. — 4 months ago
Absolutely beautiful wine: Tannic without being overly dry; fruity, without smacking of one fruit or another; balanced and quaffable astride flavorful, spice-heavy Haitian cuisine. Rich cinnamon did not overpower this wine; nor did the spicy heat of added sauces. Nuances of licorice and anise played well with the traditional Haitian ginger and cinnamon of tropical cuisine. I should say it was delightful, as I so rarely enjoy the balance of any wine so much that I drink an entire bottle alone. I highly recommend this Malbec with any tropical Atlantic island cuisine. — 4 months ago
