King Of Clare

Grosset

Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2012

Light yellow in colour. Paraffin notes with Toast and Honey on the nose. Good refreshing citric acid (lime and lemon) - still very youthful at 12 years of age. On the palate, purity and power with amazing flavour persistence. Regarded as one of Australia’s Premium Rieslings with good reason. — 19 days ago

Acrobat Oregon Pinot Noir 2022

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2022 Pinot Noir opens with a mentholated freshness, mixing wild berries and sage. It’s juicy and round, with vividly ripe red and blue fruits swirling throughout. The 2022 leaves youthful tension with the mouth watering for more as hints of licorice fade. $16.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, January 2024) — 8 months ago

Bought in Oregon - dry - loved it - drinking with Patty on trip out West in Washington. Taste of Pear and apple. Smooth. — 2 years ago

Sofa King Bueno Paso Robles Syrah Blend 2020

This is great. I was expecting fire and jam, but got a lovely nose with purple plums, black pepper, a bit of jalapeño berry jam, baking spice, and good acidity. For the price, fantastic. For a funny label wine, maybe the best I’ve had. Would love to see this in a blind tasting. — a month ago

Pikes Wines

Traditionale Clare Valley Riesling 2019

Good Riesling, but opened way too early. This wine is a good but not fully developed. There are flavors of apricot and nectarine once open for a long time. But I can tell that in 5 years, this will be much improved. Try then (2028) not now. And if opening now, leave open 3 hours before consuming. In any event, at $25, this is a great value. — 2 years ago

Stoneridge Vineyard King Coal Cabernet-Syrah Blend 2016

Blackberry bramble, baked black cherry and plum, hints of maraschino, mint and menthol, bell pepper and geranium, cedar, tobacco, and bakers vanilla with whiffs of aged leather jacket on the nose. Blackberry, cherry, juicy raspberry, vanilla extract and weak black tea on the palate with a medium heavy body but a medium short finish. Overall a great wine for pumpkin pie brunch on Christmas morning (no it’s not too early). Merry Christmas! — 3 years ago

Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

A well aged Cabernet Sauvignon is superb .. and this was a perfect example. Dusky, almost smoky and silky smooth. The tannins so well rounded it seems to form a ball of liquid gold across the palate. Simply bloody awesome!! — 3 months ago

Acrobat Oregon Pinot Gris 2021

Super quaffable #pinotgris - apple, white peach aromas, weighty palate with lots of acidity, green apple, peach, goes down too easy. Great QPR for under $8 #costcowines — 5 months ago

Wendouree

Shiraz Mataro 2011

From the disappointing wet 2011 vintage in South Australia where many producers did not produce a wine, but, typically with old vine fruit from Wendouree, this showed well. Quite ripe considering the vintage, yet medium weight palate - liquorice and spice notes with excellent intensity. Those old vines cover a multitude of sins like a cold wet vintage. 11 years is rather young for a Wendouree but given the vintage this was very polished. Has enough guts to have another 5+ years in the cellar. — 2 years ago
