Mother’s day lunch.
Not a vintage we like but this one is excellebt. Dark rubi robe, no signs of aging. Nose of asphalt, cedar, anise and blackcurrant. Very elegant fruit tannins and a bit of wood tannins to shed still, would be better with less. An extracted wine done with lots of wood but balanced and elegant same time. Drum-tight presentation throughout. Nose presents sirop de cassis and blueberry pie. For a 15 vintage, this still presents as premature.
Palate is a dream. Laser-focused and broad shouldered. Zero tertiary notes on the palate, just rich dark fruits and muscular tannins. Yours truly had to get in on the action here. Thanks to Drew for opening up his cellar! — a month ago

Coming back to this old favorite. Now it’s at grocery outlet! Pretty label. Pretty color in the glass. Smells earthy with wet gravel meets strawberry-rhubarb pies. Flavors are nice. Floral, fruity cherry/raspberry notes. Blast of bite on the finish to keep it balanced. Fruit driven, but not fruit bombed. Juicy AF. Cleaner and less dynamic than I remember it being when I love, love, loved it. Still an amazing Spanish value wine. Elegant and very tasty. — 6 months ago

Even more fantastic than the previous bottle of 2010 I enjoyed a year ago. Decanted and enjoyed over 7 hours. This was good from first pour but became great and then magnificent over the next 3.5 and 7 hours. It was still full of verve on the last sip! Early only it was more dark fruit but over time the wines softened and became a bit sweeter and rounder. Tremendous length and complexity. — a month ago

From a 5 liter bottle at Smith & Wollensky for WINE WEEK. What a deal and fun Friday afternoon

This wine had very good bright fruit flavors. Minimum tannins. A touch of acidity that was needed to keep it from being too juicy.
