Cherries, nice smoothly integrated tannins. A bit more sugar than I usually go for but overall extremely pleasant. I could see this going well with a meal that wants a leaner but still luscious red — 19 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with fairly significant staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe black and red fruits: black cherry, mixed bramble berries, spices, horse blanket, espresso…powerful. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and wild. Whoa, the structure is significant. Drink now and through 2040. First pour is lithe and delicate. With a few hours decant, not the most full bodied, but very accessible at less than nine years from vintage. Drying tannins, subtle secondary notes on palate. — 5 days ago
nuns made this wine! with paolo bea!! kind of reductive, nutty, a little appley, almost a sherry quality but solid acidity to hold it together. — 3 months ago
A more leaner rendition of this varietal, but in a good way. Nose displays clean cinnamon and toast. Palate is broad and expansive, yet light on its feet. A kiss of vanilla pod and black fruits conclude an excellent presentation. This is an intellectual wine.

Forest floor, herbal, light tannins, wonderful. The Trappist nuns with advice from Paulo Bea have done it again. — 2 months ago

A favorite. This btl is back on track. Focus and length to sway the most ardent skin-contact skeptic. — 16 days ago
