Vintage 2010 | This reserva is made of 90% Sangiovese, 10% mix Canaiola and Colorino. Ripened on foudres from Slavonian and French oak. The wine has a velvety taste, vanilla and spices. I drank this Chianti several times, at this age I am really enthusiastic! Paired with spaghetti and meatballs in Napolitanen tomatosauce. — 2 months ago

Warm nose with chocolate notes, clove, nutmeg, and coffee. Hazelnut brownie; earthy mushroom. Tart raspberry surprise inside, with licorice, cedar, bitter arabica and sharp tobacco notes, rosemary, tart bing and rich, ripe black cherry. Oak adding cinnamon and a ghost of vanilla. Peppercorn.

Easy smooth dry red — 3 months ago
Ruby coloration with some transparency. On the nose, cherry, balsamic, vanilla, leather, crushed rock and earth. On the palate, medium to full body, cherry, currants, anise, espresso bean, leather, balsamic, vanilla and chocolate; a nicely layered palate with a medium to long finish. Tannins are still quite present but balanced. — 3 years ago

I bought and drank a fair amount of Allegrini Palazzo Della Torre back in the late 1990s, and always enjoyed them. First time in the past 20 years, this seems a little softer and polished, a little lower ABV (13.5 vs. 14+ in earlier vintages), this is vinified using conventional fermentation as well as some ripasso fermentation (think Amarone drying grapes on straw mats), and has some very nice complexity and length, very nice!! — 2 months ago
