Rosso de Véo Umbria Rosso Sagrantino 2019

2019 vintage. Decanted but should have done so on Monday (it’s Friday!!!!). Tannins for days with only a slight amount of rich fruit on the finish. 11.21.25. — 15 days ago

Monvigliero Barolo Nebbiolo 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2021 pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with beautiful notes of Luxardo cherry, strawberry, red roses, crazy sun-Alpine herbs, and exotic spices, porchini, the powdered cheese packet from Kraft, mac & cheese, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose (save for the mac & cheese packet, lol). The finish is long, elegant and saline. Furthermore, the wine seems to gain body and weight with air. This might be the best Monvigliero I’ve had from Paolo Scavino. Drink now through 2051+. — 2 months ago

Carobric Barolo Nebbiolo 2003

Good except it’s missing the fruit. You can tell the wine has everything else but the fruit is gone and clearly faded — a month ago

Sorriso Langhe Chardonnay Blend 2023

Forgot to add this… Very pleasant blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. The crisp nature of Sauvignon Blanc is not lost between the creamier and more exotic elements of Chardonnay and Viognier. — a month ago

Bricco Ambrogio Barolo Nebbiolo 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of four hours. The 2021 Bricco Ambrogio pours a deep garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with a mix of tart and ripe, mostly red fruits: Morello cherry, strawberry Jolly Ranchers, pomegranate, lingonberries, a whole freaking rose bush, dehydrated orange, tar, talcum powder, dry gravelly, earth, and a gentle mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. At this point, I’m convinced that the Scavino’s are making the most interesting Barolo from the Roddi commune and they have nearly single-handedly put Bricco Ambrogio on the map. Drink now with patience and through 2061. — 2 months ago

@Pooneet K that’s only 36 years from now. I’ve had plenty of great Barolo that were at least that old and this has all the stuffing to see that and beyond.
