An ample dose of (very ripe + very evocative) Anderson Valley fruit & flora: cherry, raspberry, pennyroyal tea, dank forest floor, still vibrant and youthful. This wine is just a bit too hot and heavy (nearly 15% alc) for my tastes. Really exquisite fruit here, but while I like this power and boisterousness in her Petite Sirah, I prefer the volume just a tad lower on my Pinots. Pardon any typos; I am a lightweight and no longer accustomed to these abvs on a Tuesday night!

Smoking good, with a savory character and silky smooth, velvet texture. So harmonious and complete, with all elements in place and perfect balance. Red apple skin, pennyroyal and black tea and a sous bois finish. A delicious pinot that reaches rarified heights of sophistication and elegance — 5 years ago
I didn’t know it was possible to enjoy a Pinot Gris this much (outside of Friuli or Alsace). This unfiltered, 3-days-on-the-skins version from Tessier is evocative and vivid: golden apple, white peach, pennyroyal, bergamot. A single-vineyard wine from Filigreen Farm, a self-sustaining, biodynamically famed vineyard in the Anderson Valley. — 3 years ago
Love me some Mendocino County Pinot Noir. Damp forest floor, pennyroyal, baked cherries. A low intervention wine from own rooted vines. I was going to pour the rest of this wine out after being forgetful and leaving it out for 4 days, but it was still so fresh and gorgeous that I had to pour myself the last glass to celebrate the serendipity and solid winemaking. — 4 years ago
Lived next to this vineyard for two months. This wine captures a lot of the wildness and magic of the place. Aromas of “Anderson Valley garrigue” (pennyroyal, redwood and spruce, artisanal marijuana), fresh foraged berries, black cherry and exotic spices. I expect it’ll be even better with time. — 5 years ago

The 2019 Malbec Argentino is a blend of grapes from venerable vineyards in Lunlunta and Paraje Altamira; it is essentially a premium Mendoza Malbec. A significant amount was fermented in whole bunches before spending 18 months in used French barrels. The complex nose presents notes of plum and blueberry with hints of country herb, jarilla and pennyroyal over a bed of sour cherry and cedar. There is a whiff of lavender perfume. The fine tannins act as a net that shapes rather than structures the volume. It has good energy and elasticity with grip, juicy freshness and a complex layer of fruit appearing at the back of the mouth. The 2019 is an accomplished wine in a year that allowed for nuance and freshness. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2021)

A full bodied fruit-bomb indeed, but well made and exactly what I wanted with gochujang fire chicken. Ripe red plum, cherry, boysenberry, pennyroyal, underbrush, toast, vanilla and a real peppery kick on the finish (not alcohol heat, but legit pepper). This wine was way too dense upon release, but 3 years later it has developed really nice depth and big time velvety tannins. A cab drinker’s Pinot. — 2 years ago
