"Le Pavillon" Ermitage Syrah 2015

100 point disappointment...tastes like Bordeaux...clearly very well made but with the new oak was toned down a lot! — a day ago

Chante - Alouette Hermitage Blanc Marsanne 2019

I can’t get over this wine! The first word that comes to mind is luscious!! Ripe peaches and pear, smoke, pineapple, chamomile, tree bark and limestone. I need a case and now I can’t find it - should’ve bought more!!! — 4 months ago

Lieu Dit Malakoff Pyrenees Shiraz 2019

Herbal, dry, good acidity — tremendous value on discount ($7 a bottle!!). 89+….let’s say 90 to be neighborly. I should buy another case or two. — 18 days ago

Château Puech-Haut

La Closerie du Pic Syrah Blend 2015

Aroma on this one is much more subtle on the fruit instead embracing dessert flavors of vanilla, chocolate, and butterscotch (maybe a subtle hint of diacetyl). Some oak aromas ground out the deserts. Lots of cocoa on the palette and with mild subdued tannins and a light acidity on the finish. — 4 months ago

Les Greffieux Ermitage Syrah 2011

A super solid NRhone. All the telltale signs meaty/savory with dark fruit in an elegant package. My only issue was the intensity. Maybe asking too much. — a month ago

Nicely aged blend, enjoyed in 2025.
Syrah most prevalent, opened up well once allowed to breathe.

Very approachable and seamless. Dark fruits, iron, terracotta, citrus. Chapoutier always delivers serious wines. — 5 months ago

La Bernardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre —a total stunner she is, drinkable now with a body to go the difference. The nose brings red fruits (plums, cherries, strawberries) and roses and rose petals. The palate is silky-smooth, fresh fruit giving way to tootsie roll and stewed fruit flavors, augmented by earth and sanguine balsamic grooves, a bit of herbal garrigue carrying the day. The finish carries on, persistent and solidly ethereal if we can make that a thing. — 5 months ago
