Brut Souverain Champagne Blend

After a month off of any type of ethanol content to prepare for a marathon that I ran and finished earlier today, it's about time for me to come back on here. My first entry post break and race is a celebration post. And what better way to celebrate than with a proper bubbly?
The nose shows some reductive notes of sour apple, along with green apple, brioche and croissant. It's very inviting. The palate is very dry and acid driven but shows again these superb notes of croissant and some lemon curd too. The bubbles are subtle and complement the pastry notes very well. The finish is fresh, lemony, zingy and quite long. It's really a great champagne and it's been a while since I last tasted such a quality one. Great stuff and perfect way of celebrating a sport achievement ✌🏻

Race Car Red Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Definitely smooth! Drinks like a blend with spicey notes. Almost thought it had a % of zin or Syrah. Loved it! Great with pizza! — 6 years ago

Domaine De L'Ermitage

Victor White Blend 2018

These don’t count in my race to 2,000 at this point.
But for $5.90 more I take the tensley, I just prefer the viscosity over the zing

Burney's Blend

A race finishing congratulation to myself wine.
#garagiste

A clean nose of unsweetened blackberry jam with the faintest touch of vanilla.
Subtle fruits overlay each other, stacking. Honey crisp apple, dark berry fruit leather, pomegranate, Thai basil. Great balance within the fruit, acid, and oak. This is drinking very well right now. Yum.

Mont de Milieu Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2023

lemon color with aromas of citrus, stone fruits and floral notes. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, apricot and lemon citrus with notes of white flowers and spice. Medium+ finish, lively acidity ending with citrus fruit and chalky mineral character. — 3 months ago

Les Vaillons Vieilles Vignes Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2019

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2019 Chablis Les Vaillons Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru has a lovely, charming bouquet with orange pith, tinned peach and light apricot scents that probably make it sound more tropical than it actually is. The palate is well-balanced with a waxy-textured opening. Certainly, this represents one of the more concentrated wines of the flight, grippy and pithy, maybe just missing a little tension and race toward the finish? Otherwise, this should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, December 2023)

Château La Fleur-Pétrus

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Delectable Wine
9.8

The 2019 La Fleur-Pétrus is pure and total seduction. Trotanoy and perhaps also Hosanna have traditionally been viewed as more exclusive Pomerols in the Moueix portfolio. The more time passes, the less I share that view. Sure, La Fleur-Pétrus does not have the mystique associated from a small single vineyard - as many Pomerols do - and yet there is no denying the elegance and class here. Bright red fleshed fruit, blood orange and exotic spice race across the palate, framed by silky, plush tannins that wrap it all together. La Fleur-Pétrus is fabulous. That's all there is to it. Marie-Thérèse Chappaz

Dôle la Liaudisaz Valais Gamay Pinot Noir 2018

Beautiful dôle. Natural, earthy, elegant and complex. Pinot aromatics and Gamay sweet spices, good acidiy, well it's pure pleasure. Marie-Thérèse grows her fabulous vines up on the hills of Fully in Valais, she is one of the most iconic swiss "vigneronnes". In spite of the difficulty of working such a land, she follows the biodynamic philosophy and does an impressive work to produce world-class wines in a respectul way. This Dôle is very young and could be considered an "entry-level" red and yet it shows already all of its personality ! Paired well with a roast-beef from "race d'Hérens" beef, roast potatoes and coleslaw. — 6 years ago

Kumeu River

Hunting Hill Chardonnay 2013

Last bottle of Kumeu 😢. For now. So bright and refreshing, this is easily a summer Char. Gives White Burg and Central Cali quite a race, especially for QPR. Especially love the mid-palette citrus zest. — 8 years ago

Chery Condrieu Viognier 2021

Delectable Wine
9.4

Coming in at the same quality as the 2022, the 2021 Condrieu Chéry is an athletic Viognier, neatly capturing energy and freshness. Banana, apricot, peach, vanilla, blossom and honeysuckle all race out of the glass. Medium-bodied at most, it concludes with solid persistence on the stimulating finale. Domaine Guiberteau

Clos de Guichaux Saumur Chenin Blanc 2019

Much more subtle than I anticipated & compared to Chidaine, Huet, etc. Probably a bit closed & can use a decant at this stage. All kinds of pulverized shells & a low key minerality, long & lean in terms of texture. No wool or wax here. White flowers, Asian pear, & I want to say raw yellow zucchini ( though I may regret that). All kinds of complexity to taste. A ‘contemplative’ rather than a race horse wine-& hope my homeboy will hang onto his others so we can taste what age will do. Opened during an exhilarating Knicks win. — 3 years ago

Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Delectable Wine
9.4

The 2019 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict emerges from Block T15, one of the original parcels planted in 1971. It is a bright, focused jewel of a wine. Crushed rocks, mint, white pepper and lemon peel all race out of the glass. The 2019 is a bundle of energy. Give it a few years to come together. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2021)

Crystalline & fresh. This picks up some weight with air that richness adds some complexity to the wine. It never loses the vibrancy and tension that seems to be at the core. Beautiful. — 6 years ago

Château Angélus

St. Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Delectable Wine
9.8

The 2016 Angélus is a total stunner. Despite its late bottling in September 2018, the 2016 is simply magnificent. Soaring aromatics and layers of bright, vibrant fruit are two of the main signatures in the 2016. The tannins, so often hard in young Angélus, are almost impossibly refined. Pomegranate, blood orange, raspberry jam, wild flowers and mocha are some of the many notes that race through the 2016. All the elements fall into place in a memorable, exquisite Saint-Émilion that is clearly one of the wines of the year. Don't miss it! (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2019) — 7 years ago
