Roi De La Colline

Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard

Clos du Roi 1er Cru Beaune Pinot Noir 2018

Lyle Fass
9.3

Showing well out of the gates with blackberry and earth on the nose that has more to reveal. Palate is deep and very 18, thick with fruit, tannins and mineral. But juicy and with terrific energy. Has the largesse of this 1er Cru which works well in a vintage like this. Curious to see how it evolves. — 3 days ago

Spanna Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo 2019

Little funk on the nose. Sour cherry, some minerals and a bit of smoke. Little lighter than I expected, some healthy tannin on the back end. Really fine wine for $20 or so. Nice to see Vallana’s around again. — 15 days ago

Gratus Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo Uva Rara 2018

Really a very nice alto Piemonte. Such a refined and perhaps even gentle Nebbiolo. Tannins relatively smooth which surprised me a bit. Wonderful refreshing acid and nice finish. Delicious pairing with iberico pork on the grill. — 4 months ago

Domaine des Bosquets

La Colline... Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2013

Nice wine. Labeled at 15% but doesn’t feel that way at all. Last bottle from a set we bought on our honeymoon 10 years ago. Our tastes have certainly changed away from the southern Rhone since then - but can’t argue with the quality and enjoyment here. — 20 days ago

Château de Chamirey

Clos du Roi Mercurey Pinot Noir 2013

2013 vintage. The Premier Cru "Clos du Roi" (or sometimes spelled "Roy") is considered by many the best vineyard in Mercurey. 2013 was a challenging vintage in many respects, but this is delicious. Intriguing nose with coffee beans and cherries, intertwined with floral and herbal impressions. Very fresh in the mouth, with juicy sour cherries, subtle spices, and a slightly rustic tannic backbone. Very good length. No signs of fatigue, I wouldn't be surprised to see this holding up well for another decade. Abv. 13%. — 2 months ago
