Riserva Rio Sordo Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

This is at a really good place right now, definitely within its drinking window. Long-aged balsamic with a harmonious blend of spices like clove and anise coming through on the nose with some woodsy herbs as well. Mix of plum, dark cherry, balsamic, and spice on the palate. Smooth mouthfeel gives way to a bit of astringency on finish, which is evened out by nice acidity along with balsamic and spice. Paired wonderfully with duck breast and balsamic, red wine reduction with cherries. — a month ago

Gabutti Barolo Red Blend 2013

Medium ruby color. Aromas of cherry, cranberry and spices (clove). Smooth, cherry flavors with a hint of licorice. Solid Nebbiolo.

Garblet Sue' Langhe Chardonnay 2020

@delectable: it’s the Garblet Sué Chardonnay, not Sauvignon.

Lovely fresh, mineral, herbal mountain chardonnay, showing lemoncurd, wet pebbles, aniseed, elderflower and melon.

Barolo Nebbiolo 2017

2017 vintage. Last tasted 01.27.25 (9.2). Good primer/introductory Barolo for those unfamiliar/scared. Some fruit. More structure but never too much as to force the villagers to flee. Excellent, crushable Barolo now (and for the next half-decade) and the price comes in on the weekday train vs the weekend edition. 05.14.25. — 10 months ago

Riserva Rio Sordo Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2009

Really a wonderful barbaresco riserva. Should have bought more than one bottle. Lots of sediment, so a decant is in order. Wonderfully deep nose, so velvety on the palate. Nice long finish. Just enough refreshing acid too - could have used a smidge more but still very nice. Great pairing with Allen brothers duroc pork chops. — 3 years ago

This was a first for us - my wife’s uncle gave us a gift card for Christmas. I wasn’t that impressed with the prime beef (relative to what I get in the city) but the pork chops were great.
