See previous Delectable note from August 2024. A rich deep Ruby in colour. Traces of vanilla oak (coconut oak has toned down since initial tasting). Ripe red and black (plum) fruits. On the palate rich, intense and full bodied - sweet blackberry with hints of aniseed. As I said in the previous note, wines like this show the Barossa at its best. Will drink well through to the end of the 2020’s. — a month ago
See several previous Delectable notes for this Cuvée. I have 2 bottles left after this one. Penfolds have a whopping drink window up to 2045. The colour is a pale mid crimson with a tawny rim. Mocha, dark chocolate and blackberry notes on the nose. From a low yielding cool vintage which is made for long cellaring. Absolutely superb at the moment. Great palate intensity (mulberry, black berry and dark chocolate) with mellow resolved tannins and a very long persistent finish. No wonder Penfolds tasting book is called The Rewards of Patience. — 13 days ago

One of the best Sauv. Blanc. Really recommend, great value for money! — 2 months ago
One of those wines that feels bigger than the glass in front of you. We noted dark fruit, leather, smoke, earth, and a touch of bitumen, all backed by tight tannins and real structure. It’s young, but the balance is already striking. Part of the enjoyment is knowing the history in the bottle. We gave it 94, and would probably save the other bottle for another five years. — 18 hours ago
On the jammy side. Too overwhelming — 25 days ago

I've been *trying* to lower my wine budget this year, and it's led me to some fun finds. This pinotage being a prime example, at under $20.
The nose is a massive smoke show with coffee, mint, and scorched earth. On the palette we have coffee, bacon, green herbs, orange peel, bubblegum (!), and tea leaves. There is so much going on here, I don't fully get it, but it's a fun ride. Would be best with food, although a steak would drown out a lot of these wild flavors.
Enjoying my Sunday afternoon and listening to Guy Lombardo.
