Oppenheim Alte Reben Chardonnay 2020

Well German Chard easily beats the French white Burgh counterparts on a complexity/price ratio! Just a few are „In the know“ and the wines are stupid cheap for what they offer - good for me! The only quality importer is Lyle Fass. This wine is quite rare. Already turning dark yellow in the glass.
Stinky on the nose which blows off. Very complex. Tons of stuffing! May be even too rich? Great now but can go 5+ years. Lemon, complex citrus, lemon curd, rich. A ton of character! Touch of wood. Burned Hazelnuts. Very classy and special „I wish you where here…“ Will run this through my self-built (high quality) Argon line not the BS stuff wine shops have - and drink throughout the week in small increments. Even better than previously tested. I will make a case in point and will sample more German Chards for - all of you guys out there in 2026. May be importers will take notice.

Hohen-Sülzen Riesling 2020

Excellent. The 5 years have been good as this has rounded out very nice. Delicious minerality with some white stony fruits, great acid and texture, long finish. — 4 months ago

Kirchenstück GG Spätburgunder 2018

The nose on this wine is magnificent, so beautifully funky and barnyardy, in the best of ways. On the palate, a true German Spatburgunder, lighter in color and mouth feel than a Burgundian Pinot Noir. I’m sure this will only get better with time. — 7 months ago

Mölsheim Riesling 2020

Very nice. Has that great tension you always hope to see in Riesling. Quite a ripe nose. Great body and acid. Just that hint of sweetness, more a suggestion than a presence. — 2 days ago

Reserve Chardonnay 2020

Palate changed on my end who knows? Screwcap. Stinky too much ‘Sulfur’? I don’t enjoy this wine any more. Comes across as rich and big. Some hazelnut honeydew. Lacks finesse. 12.5%. Hint bitter. Lemon curd. Just too rich lacks elegance. If you look for German Chards to best white Burghs for the money this particular bottle ain’t it. May be they picked too late.

Frauenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs 2022

Medium light lemon yellow. Quite open and fruited at first with pear , quince , white flowers, then after a while slightly smoky , chalky , wet stones . On the palate this is strict and mineral , much more so than the nose indicates. Green apple , pear and quince , lemon peel. Quite refreshing , sharp acidity , good wet stone , grafite , green apple tinged finish. Young needs another few years and will last well another decade maybe longer . — 15 hours ago

Wow. Great out of the gate.

Nose: complex. White flowers. Elegant stone fruit pits. Insane. Aged Riesling.

Palate: so clean. Mineral. Minerals made of stone fruits. Mountain stream. Jeebus.

Long bright finish.
