Mimi's Mind Eola - Amity Hills Pinot Noir 2015

Cherry and raspberry still bright with lots of acidity. Herbal, chocolate and cedar notes. Tannins come out after a few hours of breathing. Think this will benefit from a few more years. — 8 months ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Rioja Rosé Blend 2009

Color of dried orange peel or Hot Tamales. Beautiful little firecracker.

Smells oxidized, though crisp in the mouth. A duality of candy and fresh fruit, like biting into a caramel apple. Deep, and whole, and very appley indeed. Also dried apricots and butterscotch and fresh peach.

A deep, complex wine that could go the million and one directions of a human mind.

Long Shadows Vintners

Chester-Kidder Columbia Valley Red Blend 2016

This is a delicious red blend from Washington State. Showing blackberries, coffee, chocolates, vanilla, cedar, earth, light vegetables, licorice, spices and tobacco leaf.

Full bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate and very fruity.

Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel and nice complexity.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. After 90 minutes of airtime, tannins comes out.

Tangy and rich. Spicy and interesting.

Feels like a mix of Bordeaux and a Napa blend. Very interesting and tasty.

Would age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah and 12% Petit Verdot.

14.9% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard Merlot Blend 2019

Relative to when I had this a year ago, the wine has developed slightly, perhaps gaining a little more density and body while shedding some of the crazy floral / violet aromas - while not heavy it’s certainly is medium body leaning toward full body. On the nose lovely casis and herbs (leaning toward the savory side but very well layered and fragrant). While this wine has no hard edges I believe it needs a few more years in bottle to really come together - it’s got great stuffing and just needs more time — 3 months ago

DeLille Cellars

D2 Columbia Valley Merlot Blend 2019

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong spicy nose of raspberries, sweet cherries, light oak, spices, licorice, earth, eucalyptus, herbs and peppercorn.

Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, herbs, licorice, dark chocolates, peppercorn and earth.

Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a very tasty Merlot based Bordeaux blend from Washington State. An Interesting wine that feels more like a Right Bank Bordeaux. Tangy and spicy.

Right out of the bottle it definitely feels like a new world wine, but once it opens up it changes.

This 3 year old is so very young, and would be better in 3 to 5 years. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

I really enjoyed the nose, once it opened up. The palate needs some more bottle time, but it has good potential.

Needs time to open up properly, so be patient. I used the Zencore to expedite the process. Took about 8 minutes.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A blend of 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (55% new).

14.3% alcohol by volume.

Beautiful and very well rounded. Less sweet than I usually like but still so tasty. Very full on the nose- hints of flush red fruit. Nice acidity and tannin balance. — 7 months ago

State Lane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Very fruity on the nose with black currants, blackberries, cedar, licorice, light vanilla, tobacco, cola, Indian spices, pencil lead, light alcohol and black pepper.

Full-bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black plums, ripe cherries, spices, cedar, licorice, peppercorn, chocolates, vanilla, espresso, cola and light herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins, spices and cherries.

This delicious 5-year-old Napa Cabernet is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced with good structure. Complex and entertaining. Rich and elegant.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is very approachable right out of the bottle, and better after 90 minutes of airtime. Gets more complex as it opens up.

The nose really blossoms after 3 hours, with lots of cedar, chocolate and cola notes.

Will continue to age nicely over the next 10 years. Would be nice to visit it again in 5 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.

Really good by itself as a sipping wine, and good with food too. I paired it with meats, crackers and cheeses. Paired very nicely with the French Blue cheese.

A blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot. Aged for 19 months in (55% new) French Oak barrels. Only 7,200 bottles made.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

Washington State Merlot

This is a solid Merlot. It’s smooth but rather one note to me. I don’t get the level of flavors in this one. It is beautiful in the glass and over all a decent Merlot. I would buy again — 4 years ago
