Thierry Allemand

Cornas Reynard (R) Syrah 2007

Always some of my absolute favorite wines. 07 Reynard is in the most perfect place, perfumed, layered and searingly intense with dark fruit, campfire smoke, olive tapenade, violets and a liquid rock minerality. The palate is simply seamless and one of the most complete Allemand wines in recent memory, with incredible complexity, definition and a saturating texture. A top notch Reynard that’s just rocking right now. — 2 months ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 2021

Just stunning. Incredible concentration of tiny red fruit tightly wound violets and the smallest hint of barnyard. On the palate a shocking combination of concentration and over the top acidity that tingles and lingers — 6 months ago

Penfolds

Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 1990

Still celebrating that LNP win in the Qld State election. Deep crimson with a tawny meniscus. Dense and rich on nose and palate. Blackberry, mocha and dark plum as mentioned in prior notes. Very balanced with nothing protruding. At 34 years of age the oak has totally integrated when in its youth it was prominent, like many Penfolds reds. Supple mouth feel and incredible palate length. Previous notes mention that this was Wine Spectators Wine of the Year and definitely put Grange on the map in the USA. 95% Shiraz, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Unreal! 98 points. — 2 months ago

@Bob McDonald, I’ve been buying Grange since the 1977, which I bought in NYC around 1985. Anyway, my point is that certainly Parker in the Wine Advocate were extolling the virtues of Grange years before the 1990 was WS Wine of the Year. But lucky you to still have some!!

Not sure about mixing wine and politics it’s a bit like talking religion over Sunday lunch given the religious and political persuasions of the populace
That said I have a 1990 stashed away which I might try this Christmas 😂😂

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

On nose its lots of Blackberries, oak, pine woods, leathery

On palate its so delicious, long finish, soft tannins, medium acidity, its firm and silky smooth.
Lots if fruits, with touch of vanilla, creamy. Incredible complexity. I think this wine is on its peak or another 3 years to develop. Cheers everyone!
