2002 vintage. Decanted and tasted 15 minutes and 1 hour after decanting. Slight amount of sediment. Cedar, cinnamon and traces of bacon fat in the nose along with a splash of VA. The VA blew off and wasn’t there after 1 hour but was hanging out at the onset. Medium heavy body with another 5-7 years likely dropping this to medium body. Smoked meats, bigg dark plum and roasted nuts still part and parcel during. No rush to crush. 10.28.25. — 12 days ago
One of those unicorn wines aged wonderfully. One to remember. — a month ago
Took awhile to open up but turned out to be a stunner. Nose of fresh violets with explosive Kirsch, dark raspberry and sandalwood flavors. Mouthfeel is tantalizing, smooth and well balanced. Racy acidity, fine tannins and long finish. Really exceptional for an appellation wine. — 14 days ago

Day one too tight,
Day 2 with a 2-3 hour decant is just about right.
Saxum may not be Napa but they know what they are doing,
Best winery in Paso.
Parker Review
RP96 Incorporating more Petite Sirah than normal, and the first time there's been less than 50% Syrah, the 2013 Syrah Broken Stones is made from 48% Syrah, 22% Petite Sirah, 17% Grenache, 6% Mourvedre the rest Tempranillo and Roussanne. Its deep, inky color is followed by a structured, seriously mineral-laced and full-bodied red that offers lots of fruit (cassis, black cherries and raspberries), smoked earth and chocolate aromas and flavors. The tannin is front and center, yet they're beautifully ripe and polished. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy through 2028 — 2 days ago
Medium tannins, velvet finish on the palate, complex.

Fruity nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries and chocolates notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with black currants, blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, herbs, caramel and black pepper.
Medium length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This young Grenache blend from California is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced and elegant. Complex and easy drinking.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with some airtime.
I used to love this wine years ago and haven't tried it in 5 years. It's not that exciting to me anymore, but still good.
A nice sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a burger.
A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Petite Sirah. Aged for 10 months in (30% new) French Oak barrels.
15.3% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
