Dundee Hills Pinot Noir 2023

2023 vintage. FLB jetsam. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes and 1 hour. Medium/medium-heavy body. Dark color. Round impressions. Pleasant berry escapades on the back end with spritzes of rhubarb. This was waay too young and could definitely use 2-3 years to dump the baby fat and reapply. Nicely made. Just needs more time to reveal all the wonders within. 6.26.26. — 12 days ago

Estate Grown Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay 2021

One of my go-to California Chards. All the hallmarks I like. Oak notes of vanilla, butterscotch, and brioche toast, but balanced by high acid and minerality. The best of both worlds. — 3 months ago

C. de Pinots Brut 1er Cru Champagne Blend

A 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and (Pinot) Meunier; mostly sourced from the 2011 vintage (40%) with the balance from 2010 and 2009.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The C. de Pinots NV pours a straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe apple, toasted brioche, split almonds and lemon bar and spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The DNA is there and showing a slightly more oxidative style. Drink now. Disgorged July 2016.

Beautiful aromas of brioche, pastry and subtle yeast lead into a remarkably complete palate. Huge flavor and concentration without heaviness, driven by tremendous salinity and one of the finest mousses imaginable. Long, sapid and profoundly elegant. — 15 days ago

Terroir de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2019

Deep and feral. Blood and granite all over the nose, along with cracked black peppercorns and dry aged beef. Pretty large-framed for a Saint Joe on the palate. Savory, iron and granite. Still some tannin to shed. I’d thought this would be further along than it is, but it’s got promises to keep and miles to go before it sleeps. — 3 months ago

@Tegan Marriott - His name is Bandol. All my dogs since ‘83 have been named after wine. Nebbiolo, PN, Zinny, and now Bandol. He’s a rescue. The DNA report says he’s 31% Dachshund, 25% Pit Bull, and a bunch of other stuff. He’s a sweetie!

Jasmine, quince paste, spiced pear, lemon curd, pineapple sweetness, punchy. Touch of lemon pith at end, but tons of juicy acid. Creamy / lactic. Chalky minerals. Layered, delicious, weighty.
