Viña Caliterra

Pétreo Malbec 2016

A surprising Malbec from Chile.
Nose - typical blueberry vanilla shake, dense, rich, sweet. There’s a hint of cool freshness, a stony minerality but not at the forefront.
The palate is a v. nice surprise.
Quite light, with brilliant juicy freshness. A light & crisp yet present tannic frame, fresh, crunchy blue & red fruit and an energetic flow of juicy acidity. Pure, cool, so fresh.
No plush richness, no jaminess, nothing over cooked. Vibrant, precise, juicy.
After the corked bottle of Gredos Grenache, this proved a delightful match for flanksteak & asparagus.
What a nice surprise!

MICHAEL COOPER DipWSET
9.1

#garnacha #gredos #spain I like Telmo Rodríguez’s Garnachas from Gredos more than many of the others from this region that almost look and taste like rosé and which don’t have cellaring capability because the high alcohol together with low body and structure. — 3 years ago

4 Monos Viticultores

GR 10 Garnacha Blend 2018

4 Monos entry-level, village wine. Blend of Grenache (70%), Carignan (20%) and Syrah (10%) from different vineyards in Cadalso de los Vidrios, Cenicientos and San Martin de Valdeiglesias in the Sierra de Gredos mountain range, 85km west of Madrid. Aged in oak, concrete and steel vats. Pale cherry color. Bright, juicy, reminiscent of Pinot Noir with notes of red fruit (cherries, berries) and minerals. Lively, very easy to drink. — 2 years ago

Geyer Wine Co

Barossa Valley Grenache 2018

Naked and transparent, but stands firm with full confidence.
Lovely perfume of red fresh berries, fresh herbs and a red floral and peppermint-lift and orange blossom, over a platform of undergrowth
, nutmeg and mother rock.
Enters the room somewhat shy on the palate, but soon builds character and confidence over the palate. A stoney minerality and good acidity brings nerve and tension over an expansive mid palate with a strong fatigue through a rather long finish. Makeup is not needed on true beauty,
And yea it could easily be mistaken for A Gredos Garnacha from Bernabeleva, Comando G, Land and the likes.
Paired with chicken breast with ndjuja smeared under the skin, roast potatoes and Jerusalem artichokes, and a chicken- tarragon velouté

Bodegas Frontonio

Telescópico Garnacha 2020

Bright & light yet brimming with character.
Translucent red with beautiful aromas of ripe cherry, aronia, ripe raspberries, a hint of allspice, and an underlying minerality as if ground bricks.
Bright on the palate, beautifully juicy, with firm, light tannins and great purity of fruit on the mid palate. Lovely long mineral finish. This has quite some depth and precision. Somewhere between northern Burgundy (Irancy?) and Gredos.
Old vine bush grown Garnacha from clay & limestone mountain vineyards, spontaneously fermented in cement vats and aged in old foudres.
So enticing!

Vino de la Tierra Castilla y León Pegaso Barrancos de Pizarra Red Blend 2014

Enticing & seductive with spicy, fresh red fruit, with some ripe cherry, a touch of amarena and a fresh, mineral edge. So fresh, lively, inviting.
Light yet luscious on the palate, vibrant juicy cherry acidity. Love the tannins - grippy yet sappy and quite polished.
Cherries & raspberries with a orange peel sidekick. Delicious.
This is a great wine - authentic & so fresh & juicy yet elegant at the same time.
You just gotta love Gredos.
