Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1988

Double-decanted prior to service. The 1988 pours a garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some fine sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with beautiful notes of cassis, brambles, tobacco, capsicum, leather, inorganic earth and a mix of herbs and fine spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. The label is beat to hell but the condition of the wine inside the bottle was perfect. Classic, old school Bordeaux from a classified growth. Drink now through 2043. — 14 hours ago

I don’t know that paper labels pair well with older Bordeaux. 😂

Wallufer Walkenberg Spätlese trocken Riesling 2019

Deep straw in the glass. Nose is buzzing with electric orchard fruit and honeycomb. Ripe citrus, golden apple, and faint tropics on the palate. White tea and honey. Super dry at 13%. Killer. — 7 months ago

Daumas Gassac

Rosé Frizant Vin de Pays de l'Hérault Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Trying the Mas de Daumas Gassac lineup. Aside from their flagship Languedoc red this might be my fav. It’s rose sparkling with incredibly bright strawberry notes and deep acidity. Light lees flavour. The hefty body and full mousse really make it stand out. Wow. — 9 months ago

Oxidized, nutty, complex and electric, with incredible acidity and a hint of VA. Long, profound and totally singular. Puffeney is the master, and this shows exactly why. — 4 months ago
