Ezio Poggio ‘Archetipo’ Colli Tortonesi “Terre di Libarna” Timorasso 2018: Medium body. Fragrant floral nose. Racy acidity. Lemon. Green apple. Slate. Dry crisp finish. This was my first experience with the almost extinct Piemontese Timorasso grape but definitely not my last! Such a delicious, refreshing and beautiful wine! The 2021 Mazèr Valtellina Superiore DOCG 2021 from Valtellina pours a bright garnet and opens with lifted aromas of red currant, cranberry, rhubarb, and orange peel layered with subtle notes of anise, cedar, and alpine herbs. On the palate it’s medium-bodied and elegant, with lively acidity and firm, chalky tannins that frame flavors of tart red berries, licorice, and a touch of earth and spice.
