This has nice anise, liquorice hints on the palate with darker fruit, dark cherry , red plum , touch of earthy , iron notes with some spice and smoky hints . Black tea stained finish . I find this wine amazing. It starts off with the slightest jamminess that is immediately accompanied by white pepper. In the middle, the tannins pull forward for the most delightful earthiness. The finish is wonderful dry, leathery finish that just begs for another sip. — 7 days ago

From magnum. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2015 Riserva “Montestefano” pours a bright garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe red and dark fruits: Morello cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, roses, tar, tobacco, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This was such a fun ride as the hours rolled by and while it is really delicious now, there is a long future yet ahead. Drink now through 2040. Bottle No. 1303/1982. — 10 days ago

Medium ruby , thin slightly pink ruby rim . Quite dark fruit with cassis , blackberry , grafite . On the palate quite ripe and juicy , but with good balance , slightly gritty but ripe tannins , good cassis tinged , grafite finish . Overall this shows well , with good density and juiciness , sweet but importantly with a very balanced , refreshing personality. Enjoyable now , fruit forward , but no doubt can age well over the next 10 years. Enjoyable and moreish . — 9 days ago
