W52. Good punchy body without being too drying on the palate. Very enjoyable. — 4 years ago
— 5 years ago

Black cherry and plum fruit-forward aromas and on the palate with a little spiciness too, a lush mouth feel with balanced acidity and soft tannins. This is what I want in a Portuguese red!!

Very tasty aged Portuguese red. If I had it blind, I would guess Northern Spanish - Ribera del Duero or Rioja. Smooth and slightly musty/earthy from the age (got some cork crumbles). Opens pretty quickly, with concentrated red fruit and some blackberry. Pleasant tannic grip with a soft texture. Bold flavor throughout, big body (14.5% abv), some pepper and dry grass on a savory finish. Nice for a reasonable price. — a year ago
So smooth and rich! Brought back from Cartuxa winery in Portugal. — 3 years ago

Good pairing with fish, grilled red and white meat and soft cheeses.
“This nice mid-weight wine hails from the Dao region of Portugal. It is a blend of grapes consisting of Alfrocheiro, Tinto-Roriz, and Touriga-National. Each grape is vinified separately, spends 6 months on oak, then it is bottled and cellared. It is defined by black currant, black raspberry, black pepper and a hint of earthiness. An elegant palate of blueberry, dark plum and black pepper spices that stay on the finish. A good match with a pepper-encrusted pork tenderloin on the grill.” Surdyk’s Spring Sale $7.49; regularly $11.99

Another solid vintage. Blend of Alfrocheiro (40%), Touriga National (30%) and Tinta Roriz (30%). Dark ruby color. Aromas of ripe black fruit, violets and subtle spice. Flavors of black cherry/raspberry/currant/plum fruit, dried herbs and sweet baking spices. Slight touch of oak on the long finish. Noticeable acidity and very smooth tannins. Fresh and well balanced. Plush structure. Excellent value. Wonderfully consistent vintage to vintage. Thank you for saving me a glass, Chris B! — 5 days ago
